I recently re-read some of Susan sontag's Aesthetics of silence, i feel essays like this reflect art's standing in the current century, elements i agree with. but really it's rather contradictory.

Take a look!

My recent work.

By producing a tranquil, picturesque scene, taking compositional reference from 19th century romanticist paintings, i aim to show a 'beautiful' location, with a hint of turmoil within the narrative. the pieces aim to appear almost painterly, both the embroidery and the photographic images.
The use of embroidery as a medium, paired to the photography, gave a personal satisfaction, the time spent producing the piece was far greater, and allowed me to express my emotions within the piece more vividly.
the title of the pieces may give hints as to what it's true intentions are.

my next idea is to appropriate the image of the 'last supper' and add similar elements to it! Larger scale!
